Summer by the sea

As I might have commented before baby bird  #3 came with a complicated health. after three surgeries, things were getting better but we're still not fixed so we were on the waiting list for the last most aggressive intervention, which although it was extremely worrisome for us, was supposed to fix everything. When the call from the hospital finally rang, it was unavoidable to get anxious. So once again knitting and sewing saved my sanity.

The city where I live, is  notorious for not having good fabric stores so all I could find was a  marine  striped neopreno  type of fabric as tough as cheap. Left with no options,  I got it. And in the course of the weekend, I traced the pattern of a spring summer dress. Cut it. Sew it. Decorated it.

The result is soooo cool I can hardly believe it! The fabric is so hard, that it keeps keeps the shape, giving  extreme volume to the skirt. Plus, we  Added some embroidery to the French sleeves, and (how not!) a touch of Valenciennes lace to the left shoulder to result on the cheapest fastest fanciest therapeutic project thus far this year!

The complete story goes however, that once I finish both dress, surgery overcome! My mother (as often) took it upon herself  to improve the stitching of the bottom hem. So she took them back to her hometown supposedly  just to redo the bottom.  after two days,  she called me, mad as ever, because oh surprised! Nothing matched and she had had to take it all apart. With the help of my aunt the dresses when I finally put back together and finished up better than ever.

Christmas Pull home-made Pattern

I have always wanted to knit a Christmas Pullover. One of those red, white and green, with snowflakes and reindeers all over them. But two things held my horses:
  •        Complication
  •         Season appropriateness constrains

Such a big effort for just two weeks of rightful public exposure does not seem very effort-effective.
Winter 2016 Nano's Christmas Pull
That is when I came across a reinterpretation of the garment that we can’t pass on. Of course, it is by NANO’s. I love it and I just spent 2 hours trying to find a free knitting pattern for the elk head. Since I couldn’t, I came up with my own copy, which I leave here in case it might be of interest to any of you.
4yo pattern suggestion

I will let you know how the project turns out

TIPS
  • The elk head shape could benefit from a bit of a narrower forehead, so if the length of your pull allows it, grant it a couple extra black rows between lines 27-28 (narrowing the forehead)
  • The diagram posted fits a 4 year old, upper body length of about 40cm. I also prepared a smaller version, if you need it, drop a comment!

Shawl we Knit again?

Not that we are in lack of  new ideas, but seems like lately we are on a roll of repeating patternsJust a few days ago, we posted a recap of some of the baby wraps we have knitted over the years.
Julia's bundle of Joy

We praised on the effectiveness of the project, short, cute, interesting, different and practical to the max. Well, Some dear friends got a baby girl present just a few weeks ago and we thought that one of this baby wraps would just be adorable on her.

We also knitted a matching cap, combining off white and dusty baby pink to soft it. Julia looks just like Snow White, so these colors should be adorable on her.

We are thinking about including it in our catalog,
would you buy it?

Baby Cardigans Frenzie

A very dear friend of us, gave us the cutest baby cardigan by Casilda&Jimena AW15 as a present for Baby#3 arrival. Its nude color matches with everything and the mink collar detaches, so it was only natural to maximize its use by making additional cardigans in an assortment of colors. Having said this, we might have gone a bit overboard with the project.

Here they are!
